WEEK IS SHOWING MY COWS AND HAVING FUN." These kids know how to have fun but they put in the hard work as well. The 173rd Trumbull County Fair is in full swing. It's longstanding objective is to promote and encourage agriculture among many other things. If you've ever stopped by the barns on the fairgrounds -- you know even the youngest fair participants realize how important the industry is. First News Reporter Nadine Grimley has the story. NADINE GRIMLEY/WKBN 27 FIRST NEWS - BAZETTA: "WELL 4-H IS A BIG PART OF THE TRUMBULL COUNTY FAIR AND FOR THE KIDS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE VARIOUS CLUBS WHAT THEY LEARN IS MORE THAN JUST SHOWING THE ANIMALS." If you take a walk around the barns on the fairgrounds. There's a good chance you're seeing the future farmers of Trumbull County and beyond. LANCE MYERS/NORTH BENTON :"I WANT TO PLANT CROPS AND JUST DO MILKING AND STUFF TO PROVIDE MILK FOR PEOPLE TO DRINK." And these kids are experiencing first hand the hard work it takes to become one.. GRANT CARSON/GUSTAVU S: "I HAVE TO TAKE WHEEL BARROWS AND CLEAN UP POOP." THAT might not be the most glamorous chore. BUT those already in the industry say taking care of the animals -- in all aspects -- teaches them responsibility. JAMIE PIERCE/ FARM: "IT ALSO TEACHES THEM THEAT THEY'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ANIMAL LIKE A HUMAN BEING THEY HAVE TO FEED THEM THEY HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO PRODUCE THE MILK THAT WE DO." These children are learning the ropes at a young age. Take Keith Barto for Example. He's 19 BUT has been around cows at fair for more than a decade. KEITH BARTO/HARTFORD: "IT'S A LOT OF WORK, IT'S A YEAR LONG THING." He hopes to one day own his own own dairy farm. And hopes to pass on his passion for animals to his future children. KEITH BARTO/HARTFORD: "I WANT THEM TO LEARN TO RESPECT THE ANIMALS AS WELL AS IT HELPS YOU BUILD CHARACTER." A sentiment echoed by other kids in 4-H too. SYDNEY COLLINS/ "I REALLY WANT TO PASS THIS ON TO MY KIDS BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE FOR ME." In Bazetta Nadine Grimley WKBN 27 First News.
