What's the first steps to making passive income from courses memberships and workshops? Stay tuned.
I'm Lisa Johnson a multi six-figure business coach and in
two years I've built a business online where I make 80 percent of my income
from passive and semi passive income streams. Today I'm going to tell you the
very first thing you need to do to start making passive income from courses
memberships and group programs and three reasons why it's really important you do
this. When people start thinking about how they're going to make money from
passive income they always skip this most important step they rush straight
into creating mode and start thinking of exactly what's going into their course
or membership what they don't do is work out who they want to serve, who is their
ideal client? It's so important that you work out who you want to work with for
three reasons one when you know the ideal client you're creating something
for, it's going to be much easier to grow an audience of them for you to sell your
course or membership to, without an audience you're going to find it much
harder to make money from your product. I know so many people who have amazing
courses but nobody buys them because they don't have a following to sell to,
they think their course isn't good enough, but it is rarely that. They just
haven't worked out exactly who they want to help and so they don't have those
people ready to buy. Are you guilty of having done this? Have you ever put
something out there and nobody's bought it, give me a "oh my god yes" in the
comments below if that's been you because you're definitely not alone and
that's the other thing. If you're really struggling right now to think of what
you could possibly make passive income from to stop thinking about that and
instead have a think about who you want to help, the what to create can come
later. The second reason is when you know exactly who you want to help you can ask
them what they want. Hold off creating anything until you do
this. I remember when I grew my first audience I have an idea of what I was
going to do a course on, but once I got really clear on who I wanted to help I
could then ask those people what they really needed it was a completely
different thing than the thing I'd assumed they wanted once. I knew what it
was I could create it and sell it my first course made £60,000 because
of doing exactly that. The third
thing is that when you know who you want to serve you know their pain points
their desires so you can talk to them about those things this is really gonna
help your potential clients relate to you especially if you've had the same
symptoms as them but now move past those issues if you can show people that you
were in the same position with the same problems they have right now but that
you no longer are. It will mean they know you understand their pain which is
really important. Think about times you've bought courses or follow someone
you really related to that they have the same experiences or issues as you? People
always buy from people so it's no surprise that you will have bought from
people you know like and trust, you were their ideal client.
So to recap. Don't just start creating a course or membership, first work out the
ideal client you want to serve so that you can; one, grow an audience of
potential clients; two, ask that audience what they want you to create rather than
wasting time and; three, talk about the pain points of that ideal client so that
they can relate to you. It's really important that you know everything about
this ideal client, now this isn't market research you get to decide who they are
who you want to work with because then you can make sure you're only bringing
the right people to nurture and sell to. Spend time writing down everything about
this person even give them a name so that when you're talking to ideal client
you can actually picture them, it's gonna make planning out your content so much
easier as you'll know exactly what they want to hear about. Don't miss this
important step as so many people do it's gonna pay out in the long term when you
put your product out there and have customers snapping it up. Make sure you
