HALO Safe Steps: 500 supporters join 34km sponsored walk across Salisbury Plain

Hi we're at The Prince Leopold Pub which is the start and finish point for The HALO Safe Steps Walk We're walking 34km across Salisbury Plain to raise money for landmine clearance all around the world HALO is very dear to my heart after 27 years and I'm here today walking with my sister and my brother-in-law Hi my name is Mary and I've come from Westbury today we just wanted to help in whatever way we could The reason I'm walking today is because I served 22 years in the army and I know lots of people who have had injuries from bombs, roadside bombs and so I want to walk for them I'm going on this walk because I think that everybody should have the right to walk wherever they want without the fear of blowing themselves up I've had an amazing day so far I've met some lovely people It's been a really good day but it's been hotter than expected we're on the home straight now so, looking forward to it We're two miles to the end So we're feeling happy and a little tired maybe Aaaaaaah We've finished! I'm so glad Now we're going to have a hot dog and a little sit down Yeah My legs feel knackered but I'm very, very happy to have done the walk We met a load of amazing people Got to see loads of my colleagues again which was lovely and it's just such a nice way to be able to contribute to some really important work So I feel knackered but it was all worth it It's been wonderful over the years to see the evolution and what a major force for good HALO has become so do please support Safe Steps You can still do that on the website Thank you
